Inline Slurry Density Measurement

Continuous slurry density measurement directly in the pipeline without radioactive sources — providing real-time data for process control, mass balance and automation.

The Alia ADM technology is designed for continuous measurement of slurry density directly in pipelines at mining and mineral-processing facilities without the use of radioactive sources.

The Alia ADM in-line density meter provides:

      • continuous real-time slurry density measurement;
      • operation with highly abrasive slurries in mining and mineral-processing applications;
      • stable operation in the presence of air bubbles and gas inclusions;
      • measurement performance that is not adversely affected by process aeration;
      • integration into existing plant automation and control systems;
      • deployment on both existing and new process lines;
      • proven application experience in uranium, zinc, and other mineral-processing operations;
      • operation without radioactive sources and the associated licensing, radiation monitoring, storage, and source-disposal procedures.

PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

  • Continuous slurry density monitoring at critical points in the process.

  • A measurement framework combining density, flow rate, and laboratory assay data for the valuable component.

  • Calculation and monitoring of product mass flows across process stages.

  • Support for controlling product yield and recovery of the valuable component.

  • Rapid detection of valuable-component losses and deviations from the target operating regime.

  • Measurement data for automatic control loops and process optimisation.

  • Improved stability and repeatability of production process indicators.

METROLOGY

  • Elimination of radioisotope sources and the related radiation-safety procedures.

  • No licensing, storage, accounting, or disposal procedures for ionising-radiation sources.

  • Continuous real-time density measurement with a standard 4–20 mA output signal.

  • Integration into existing instrumentation and plant automation systems.

  • Reduced operational burden on the plant metrology team.

  • Ability to build a unified density-measurement system across multiple process stages.

  • Simplified expansion and scaling of the plant process-monitoring system.
